Isaac - Friday

I guarantee that after this week, the name Isaac will no longer be on the top names list.

Still no power.  Traffic lights still broken.  More accidents happen every hour.

Walmart opened today - so that was a good sign!

Isaac - Friday

No gas stations are pumping. Going on day 3 without electricity. It's 85 degrees outside. I'm a little bitter.

Haha but somehow, all of the Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants are open. Too funny.

Isaac - Thursday

The bars are all open and the restaurants are closed.  Sounds like New Orleans!

A couple trees are fallen an there are branches and leaves all over the place.  Fortunately, I'm yet to hear of any severe damage or personal injury.  A couple apartment buildings have power now, but the majority of residents are without.

Isaac was an interesting experience, but I'm definitely ready to get back to a normal schedule!  Kirk, please stay away :).

Isaac- Wednesday

Got a lovely voice mail from the Electric Company saying they won't restore power lines until the winds are below 30mph.  Makes sense.  The pictures and news casts I've seen show the worst damage to be over Mississippi, not Louisiana.  Still yet to hear of any injuries or damages in New Orleans.

Happy hurrication everyone!

Hurricane Isaac - Wednesday

The storm seems like it's passed.  There is just some light rain and low winds.  From my view, nothing is damaged or broken.  The trees are all where they should be and the roads aren't terribly flooded.  Of course, we can expect to live without power or a day or so.  Luckily I have a great stack of books and some magazines I bought for the occasion!

Hurricane Isaac - Tuesday night

Winds are crazy loud.  The rain isn't that hard but the wind makes it seem like it is.  Magically we still have power and can watch Gov. Chris Christie's RNC address!

The weather reports say the worst of the storm is due to hit late tonight/early tomorrow morning.  A few  civilian cars are still on the road but otherwise it's military vehicles.

Time to open the wine!

Hurricane Isaac - Tuesday

Morning: Cars park on the neutral ground to keep their cars on higher ground.  Mayor Landrieu gives another press conference.  It's still sunny outside.

2pm: The rain finally starts.  The wind begins to be loud enough to hear from indoors.

3:15pm: False alarm, the rain stops.  The wind stops.  The sun comes out?

Hurricane Isaac - Monday

Monday, August 27th

Morning: Walmart completely out of water bottles and canned tuna.  Winn Dixie out of apples.  Walgreens lines too long to bother.  Shell stations out of gas.  This will be fun!

Night: Party at The Rusty Nail!  In typical New Orleans fashion, why stress about a hurricane when you can drink Hurricanes?

Late Night: The waves being to pour over the Lakeside levee.  It's awesome to stand in 30 mph winds. Surprisingly no TV reporters there with us.
